Altri Suoni

…....Venice has inspired the quartet with its mysterious, romantic, ambiguous, seductive atmosphere; all qualities found in the eight original compositions. The level of interplay gives birth to an original and very characteristic sound. Instead of protagonism every musician serves the group. Listen - till the end of the cd!...

Jazzitalia

…There is a lot of John Coltrane in the music of the quartet. Jeric is master of his instrument; with the tune Young he shows a reasonable flair for composition (an element which is anything but common among drummers), he moves with great ease, both when tackling "physically" demanding performances (the finale of Red Joy is overwhelming, to say the least) and when, brushes in hand, he transports us to the soft atmosphere of the ballad.

Jazz Convention

…The pieces are closely linked to the example of 1960s recordings and the quest for melody. None of the four takes possession of the piece or tries to impose his own voice. Even in the improvisations, the musicians do not pursue virtuosity; they leave the piece and the melody of the head to flow on. The tunes are interconnected, letting a distinctive tendency to seek and remind one of pensive and meditative sensations shine through; this is not a sad record, but it is easy to listen to, and it comes into its own on hazy days, with a good cup of tea, and with a book which speaks of and leads us to rarefied places and mellow emotions.

Jazz Views

…This is another superb disc that will struggle unjustly to be heard. Slovenia born drummer, Aljosa Jeric is well worth searching out. Whether driving the band along or playing quietly with brushes, Jeric makes his presence felt in the quality of his playing and a relaxed assurance behind the kit; never overplaying but nudging and cajoling, handling arranged passages with skill and a sense of dynamic that many a drummer could benefit from. This is good contemporary quartet music that is not pushing at extremes, but makes an exceptionally good case for the defence that jazz can still make a strong and individual statement without stretching the musical boundaries, and possibly alienating their audience in the process. Highly recommended…”

All About Jazz - ****

…high class jazz. The music comes out very compactly and encounters no problems in bearing comparison with American groups in similar fields of expression. It is the sensitivity with which the members listen to one another which makes this a high level group. The surprise of this CD is the revelation of a group with its own identity led with precision by the Slovenian drummer. Recorded superbly! Don't miss this group if they should appear in your area!”

“… to distinguish Jeric, a drummer with an inimitable polyrhythmic technique and the real lasher of the evening…”
